Description
Ngwe Yi Pale is a Mandalay-based conglomerate carrying out large-scale coal mining and quarrying in Shan State, and operating cement, sugar and fertilizer factories.
With its subsidiary Mandalay Distribution & Mining, Ngwe Yi Pale operates coal mines in Hsipaw, Lawksawk, Namzarng, Kyaukme and Ke See townships of Shan State. It has had close links with the Burma Army’s Northeastern Regional Command since it was established in 2000.
One of the company directors, U Sein Myo Aung, is a former Immigration official, with a record of corruption in previous postings in Magwe and Sagaing.
